Questions for the Couple

WEDDING OFFICIANT ASKS THE COUPLE

I have found in my years of performing wedding ceremonies that many forget the meaning behind the ceremony itself. They are ready for the party to celebrate afterwards.

The wedding ceremony is not only the “legal” part, but it is where you state your promises to each other, you dig deeper within yourself to share your love for each other. Why are you stating “I Do” and why did you select that date?

Now your officiant will pull those answers out of you at some point along your journey of working together and part of my process is to support you with either writing your own vows or coming up with vows that you mutually agree on to “repeat after me”.

I don’t believe in trying to memorize vows, you have enough going on with your nerves that day that you don’t need one more thing to remember. I hand your written vows over to you to read to each other or if you want a repeat after me format, then a few words at a time will be stated to you.

After you share with me about your love story and I ask a few more questions that will put you into the frame of mind for writing your own vows, we go through that writing process. Not everyone wants this option, so I have used their own words to create personalized vows to share on their wedding day.

A couple questionnaire can be filled out if a call together can’t be done and you will fill in the form, but I find this individual call with each person can be very supportive to the couple as a whole.

Cheers to your wedding day and get ready to create memories!
